Bella Abbascia has returned to Seaside Cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, as she does every summer. Only this year, Bella has more on her mind than sunbathing and skinny-dipping with her girlfriends. She’s quit her job, put her house on the market, and sworn off relationships while she builds a new life in her favorite place on earth. That is, until good-time Bella’s prank takes a bad turn and a sinfully sexy police officer appears on the scene.

Single father and police officer Caden Grant left Boston with his fourteen-year-old son, Evan, after his partner was killed in the line of duty. He hopes to find a safer life in the small resort town of Wellfleet, and when he meets Bella during a night patrol shift, he realizes he’s found the one thing he’d never allowed himself to hope for—or even realized he was missing.

After fourteen years of focusing solely on his son, Caden cannot resist the intense attraction he feels toward beautiful Bella, and Bella’s powerless to fight the heat of their budding romance. But starting over proves more difficult than either of them imagined, and when Evan gets mixed up with the wrong kids, Caden’s loyalty is put to the test. Will he give up everything to protect his son—even Bella?

Melissa Foster hits it out of the park yet again with the Seaside Dreams, first book in her new spin-off series called Seaside Summers . This book had everything I've come to love about Melissa's books. There is the attractive and intelligent hero that'll bare his soul to win her love. There's the emotionally guarded and strong heroine that'll open herself to win his heart. I adored Caden and Bella. I loved Caden's patience with Bella. He knew that he couldn't rush her and he didn't. I loved that Bella stood strong with Caden. She didn't rush Caden when he was being a father, but yet she always claimed Caden in the smallest ways when they were together. In Seaside Dreams, Melissa added a moody element in Caden and Bella's relationship in the form of Caden's teenage son. This obviously put a strain on their relationship, one that I thought helped strengthen it. They couldn't just think about themselves in the relationship. Bella knew that Evan would and should always come first in Caden's life. She knew that it was imperative that Evan felt comfortable with her being with his father. I loved that we see a lot of interaction between Bella and Evan as she builds a relationship with him. Although Caden and Bella are able to find time to be together sexually, they don't rush into it and they don't flaunt it in front of Evan. He's a smart kid and knows that his father is happier than he's ever been. Caden, Evan, and Bella were amazing together and they'll make a great family.

I love all of Melissa's books and Seaside Dreams was no different. It made me laugh, it made me cry. It made me wish I knew these characters in real life. Every time I start a new book from this author, it is like I'm being welcomed home. I always make the mistake of starting them at night and I'm always awake in the wee hours in the morning because I can't put the book down. I can't wait until the second book in the new Seaside Summers series to see how Caden, Evan, and Bella are doing as a new family. And, of course, I want to see Pete and Jenna's romance. That'll be yum worthy for sure.
