He sits across from me, his coffee and cream skin stretched over hard muscles I can see beneath the fit of his t-shirt. His dark eyes miss nothing as he watches me, and I can feel my face heating up. I can’t let him see how he affects me, or he’ll tease me…I know his type.
Interviewer: Hi there. I’m just going to jump right into these questions, since we are on such a tight schedule. What is your name for the record?
Gabe: Gabriel Moriarty, sweetheart, but you can call me anytime. *he winks* I prefer Gabe, though.
I ignore the fluttering in my chest at the endearment and try to stay focused.
Interviewer: And you’re the hero of Codi Gary’s Return of the Bad Girl, is that correct?
Gabe: I wouldn’t call myself a hero, no.
Interviewer: What would you call yourself?
Gabe: I’m just a man trying to make up for my past. Nothing more.
His eyebrow arches, as if he’s daring me to argue, but all I can think about it the little silver bar pieced into his eyebrow, making him look roguish, dangerous.
What kind of dirty deeds did he have to make up for?
Interviewer: How long have you had your eyebrow pierced?
Why did I ask that? It wasn’t relevant.
Gabe: Since I was sixteen. Do you want to touch it?
I shift in my chair, resisting the urge to fan myself. Touch his face? Smooth my thumb across the smooth skin of his brow?
I swallow. Hard.
Interviewer: Let’s move on. Why did you move to Rock Canyon? Do you have any family or friends in town?
I can tell he’s guarded by the way he crosses his arms and leans back, distancing himself from me.
Gabe: My friend, Chase Trepasso lives here.
Interviewer: No family?
Gabe: I have a sister, but I’m not going to talk about her to you. Move on.
The sharp command is a complete one eighty from his original charm, and my interest spikes.
Interviewer: Is there some reason you don’t want to-
Gabe: We’re done here.
Gabe stands up and starts heading for the door. I can’t let him leave. I have one more question.
Gabe doesn’t slow.
Interview: How do you really feel about your roommate, Caroline Willis?
He stops, and turns to face me, his expression a hard mask, warning me I couldn’t keep crossing the line with him.
Gabe: I think she’s a giant pain in the ass.
I watch him walk out the door, and grin.
Interviewer (aka Caroline Willis/Pain in the ass): You haven’t seen anything yet, Gabriel.

Bad girls don't forgive.
Bad girls don't forget.
Bad girls don't fall in love.
Caroline Willis may be known for causing trouble, but she is NOT about to become homeless. So when she learns that her perfect apartment has been double-booked—to a dangerously hot bad boy—Caroline's bad-girl reputation comes out in full force. He may be sexy as sin, but she's not afraid of him … or his panty-melting smile.
Rock Canyon's got room for only one bad attitude—and Gabe Moriarty was here first. Still, starting over means playing it smart, so while sharing his new apartment is less than ideal, it's worth getting his dream business off the ground. Not to mention that it means shacking up with a sexy wild child. Caroline may be giving him the cold shoulder, but Gabe always was good at starting fires …
Caroline vows to keep things professional with Gabe, but as close quarters begin to ignite the sizzling chemistry between them, she's left wondering: Bad boy plus bad girl equals nothing but trouble … right?
