There’s something about prosecuting attorney Elle McCoy that Deputy Gabe Dawson just can’t get enough of. Even with Gabe’s family legacy in law enforcement and promising career, Elle’s smart, sassy rejection of all his charm makes Gabe want her even more.
But Gabe’s confidence is shaken when he’s shot on the steps of the courthouse, protecting Elle from a terrorist intent on revenge. Worse, Elle isn’t out of danger yet. But as they race to counter the terrorist’s next move, Gabe determines to prove to Elle—and himself—that he’s a man worthy of her.
As a lover of romantic suspense, I've come across two types of authors. There are authors that respect the line where you know that most, if not all, of the characters are safe. Then there are authors that not only crosses the line, but flips it off as they do so. After the opening sequence from Safe from Harm, author Kate SeRine is most definitely a flipper off-er. Holy flipping cow, my jaw dropped. The opening scene gutted me. It's not a character that I was attached to, but I thought for sure that he (or she) was safe. That scene set the book up to be very in your face and I loved every moment of it. Safe from Harm is only my 3rd book of Kate's that I've read, but I'm really starting to love her books more and more. Her writing is top notch. Kate's characters are strong individuals that I always want to root for, whether it is with their relationship or in their fight for justice. It's no wonder that I finished Safe from Harm in just over a day. I could not put it down. And now the wait starts for the 3rd book in Kate's Protect & Serve series.
Kate SeRine (pronounced “serene”) is a hopeless romantic who firmly believes in true love that lasts forever. So it's no surprise that when she began writing her own stories, Kate vowed her characters would always have a happily ever after.
Kate lives in a smallish, quintessentially Midwestern town with her husband and two sons, who share her love of storytelling. She never tires of creating new worlds to share and is even now working on her next project—probably while consuming way too much coffee.
Kate is also the author of the award-winning Transplanted Tales paranormal romance series and the Protect & Serve romantic suspense series.
