Pass the Popcorn: Will she ever stop screaming?!

Hello friends! Something you don't know about me is that as much as I love horror movies, I refuse to watch them in theaters. Nope... Not happening. The one time I did see a horror movie in a theater was The Blair Witch Project way back when. So I have a little bit of love for movies that have the same kind of plot. Which is why I was drawn towards the movie Invoked. I should have known better...

One of the elements of The Blair Witch Project that I loved is how subtle it is. There isn't a lot of screaming. There's no blood or gore, with the exception of the poor guy and his teeth. The majority of the scary elements happens off screen so the audience's imagination is able to run wild.

The best thing Invoked had going for it was my mute button. First of all, there were too many characters to follow and I didn't care for any of them. Plus there were a lot of scenes that felt like they were added to simply pad the run time of the movie. Totally unnecessary and a little annoying. Why was my mute button my best friend? For the last 20 or so minutes of the movie, there was one female character that would not stop screaming. It wasn't an occasional scream to freak out the audience. It was a loud pitch, STFU type of scream. Seriously, if I had not muted my TV I would have woken up the house.

Verdict: Don't bother. Watch The Blair Witch Project instead.

The Book: Honestly, I paid more attention to the book I was reading instead of the movie, which was Irresistible You by Kate Meader.

    1. I hear ya! And I'm actually getting a bit tired of horror flicks at the moment. So I think this will be the last horror edition of Pass the Popcorn. I want to start featuring Christmas movies in November. Most will be Hallmark movies with some of my favorite movies thrown in. It's going to be fun. I hope... :)
