I hadn't realized that I was craving drama and angst in a romance until I started reading Running on Diesel. Okay, so there wasn't a whole lot of angst (just enough to wet my whistle), but hot damn, the drama was amazing and I could not stop reading. Oh Diesel. Diesel, Diesel, Diesel... I didn't know if anyone could top Tank, but Diesel came so close. His broodiness. The death glares he shoots at any man who dares to be near Tracey. His rage that night... Yes, ma'am! I was ready to hop on his bike to claim him. As for Tracey, she's the perfect Melissa Foster heroine. She's strong, badass heroine who is fighting her way out of a horrible situation. I adore them as a couple.
Where Melissa Foster excels is her ability to create an immersive world where everyone is connected. I like to picture it as one really large small town where everyone knows each other one way or another. Readers are treated to this when Melissa sets up a new series, which she does towards the end of this book. We finally get to meet new characters that we've heard about before and this creates a fairly seamless transition as we move to a new family and location. I love that even though we're moving on to new characters, I know that we'll still get updates on characters we've loved for years. It truly is the perfect balance of new and old characters. And I cannot wait to see what Melissa has in store for the new family.
