He’s not just rich…he’s filthy rich.

When I started working at Salacious Players’ Club, I never expected to end up on the auction block ready to grant a date to the highest bidder.

This club is not really my scene. I’m not the kind of girl rich guys take home. I’m more a piano playing, van-living, free spirit kind of girl.

So when Ronan Kade, the richest man at the club, puts down over a hundred grand for my time, how can I tell him no?

But he’s too old. Too rich. Too cocky.

And oh yeah…he once dated my mother.

Except he doesn’t know that. He has no idea who I am.

One date turns into a trip to Paris. And an offer to live with him in his penthouse. Then a promise to take care of me.

Before I know it, I’m calling this silver fox my daddy.

Ronan Kade only bid on one date, but I think he’s winning much more than that.

Can we overcome the years between us to find happiness?

And will he find it in him to forgive me when he learns the secret I’ve been keeping?

If you've been following the Salacious Players Club series, Highest Bidder takes place 2 years after the previous book. We get a brief catch-up with our favorite club members before diving straight into what is probably one of Cate's more taboo books. Highest Bidder is Ronan and Daisy's book. Ronan, who we've met in previous books, is a billionaire Dom whose heart is locked away. He has a rough time when it comes to romance. His wife and child were killed years prior. After that he has a difficult time with women who are only with him for his money. The only woman who truly loved him had to leave at the end of the summer. That is where our heroine, Daisy, comes in. Her heart is also bruised and battered after watching her mom slowly lose her battle with cancer. Now she's working at the club hoping to learn more about why Ronan's name would be linked to money her mom left her. Oh yeah, did I mention that her mom is the woman Ronan loved? And that's why, in my opinion, Highest Bidder is one of Cate's more taboo books.

I had a blast reading Highest Bidder. Was it one of my favorites in the series? Sadly no. The emotional scenes were fantastic. I loved watching both Ronan and Daisy battle through their rough pasts to fight for a future together. Their sexy scenes where a-may-zing. I also appreciated that the kink in this one, which is daddy/pleasure kink, wasn't in your face. If you're new to this type of kink or if you're not sure if you like it, Highest Bidder would be a good place to start. What stopped me from absolutely loving this book was how fast Ronan and Daisy's relationship progressed. It felt rushed to me, especially for a woman like Daisy who is still grieving from her mother's death. Ronan was right, she doesn't know what she needs versus what she wants. At points in the book, it felt like she latched onto him without really knowing herself first. I would have wanted their relationship (prior to the whole misunderstanding towards the end of the book) to last longer. Other than I that, I enjoyed Highest Bidder. It was a fun, taboo romance and a great addition to the Salacious series. I cannot wait until Eden's book.

Let’s skip the boring About the Author bit where I tell you how I’m a USA Today bestselling author who lives in Arizona with her kids, husband, and dog and enjoys baking in my free time. Boring.

Instead, I’d like you to know I strive to be a taboo and forbidden romance author who dares to tell stories with heart-wrenching plot and toe-curling heat.

My passion in life is to normalize a reading experience that pushes boundaries and empowers women to own their sexuality. Things that trigger my soapbox rants are discrediting the romance industry or belittling its readers by calling it “trash.” You’ve been warned. I could could quite literally go on for days.

I like to take risks and write from the heart. And I want nothing more than to be an author readers trust to deliver books that are steamy AF but with a strong storyline and well-rounded characters.

What is The Sara Cate Experience?

The Sara Cate Experience means being pulled into a story and escaping reality a little bit for romances that are as emotional as they are arousing. The feelings are strong and the steam is scorching. There is never one without the other because when sex and love come together, it’s fireworks.
