All is fair in Love and Football...

Emily Hamilton doesn't trust men. She's much more comfortable playing the romantic lead on stage in front of a packed house than in her own life. So, when NFL star and irresistible ladies' man Brandon McKenna acts as her personal white knight, she has no illusions he'll stick around. However, a misunderstanding with the press throws them together in a fake engagement that yields unexpected (and breathtaking) benefits.

Every time Brandon calls her "Sugar," Emily almost believes Brandon's playing for keeps, not just to score. Can she let down her defenses and get her own Happily Ever After?

The one place Emily never expected to find herself is on her butt looking up into the eyes of Brandon McKenna. Why? She's not a football fan. Heck, she's having a hard time trusting men at the moment. But, there she is. On the pavement. With a concussion. And looking at her soon-to-be fake fiance. Over the next year, Emily and Brandon slowly move into a relationship that is anything but fake. Just when their happily ever after is within reach, the past comes back and bites them in the ass. Only time (and some groveling) can tell if Emily and Brandon can turn their once fake engagement into a really beautiful wedding.

I was really looking forward to reading Blitzing Emily. Not only is is a sports themed romance, it is also a debut novel for author Julie Brannagh. Thanks to the beginning stages of a book slump, it took me a couple chapters to finally get into the book. When I punched through the forming slump, I could not put the book down. Lets just say I finished it at 3:30 in the morning because I could not stop reading. Call me crazy, but I love a good fake engagement and arranged marriage. The reader knows there are feelings developing between the two characters and it is so much fun watching it dawn on them. What sets Blitzing Emily apart from other books is that once Emily and Brandon decide to go on with their engagement, the rest of the book is Emily and Brandon dating. I loved how their relationship progressed. They start with coffee dates and move onto dinner. They started off as friends and slowly moved towards falling in love. It was perfect. All of the characters were lovable. I can't wait to start Amy's story. I loved the relationships between each of the characters. The bickering between Emily and Brandon was hysterical. A very lovable book!

Kudos on a fantastic debut novel, Julie!

Julie Brannagh has been writing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. She lives in a small town near Seattle, where she once served as a city council member and owned a yarn shop. She shares her home with a wonderful husband, two uncivilized Maine Coons and a rambunctious chocolate Lab. Julie hasn't quite achieved the goal of owning a pro football team, so she created a fictional one: The Seattle Sharks. When she's not writing, she's reading, or armchair-quarterbacking her favorite NFL team from the comfort of the family room couch. Julie is a Golden Heart finalist and the author of four contemporary sports romances.

    1. I agree!! I love watching the relationship grow as the book progresses. This one definitely had the "Marry me, because I want to date you" vibe from The Proposal. I kept picturing Ryan Reynolds as Brandon. YUM!
