How to Lose a Duke in Ten Days was such a romantic book, I swooned in just about every chapter. For Stuart, love at first sight is real. Imagine his surprise when this beautiful woman approaches him out of the blue and proposes marriage. A marriage of convenience that'll give him money to pay off his debts and explore Africa. Sounds good, right? It is until Stuart almost loses his life and comes home determined to win his wife back. Edie is happy. She's married in name only so she doesn't have to return to New York to face her ruined past. Her life is thrown for a loop when Stuart comes home. He's determined to make her love him and she's determined to hold him at arm's length. Stuart and Edie broke my heart. Stuart comes home a broken man. His leg is badly damaged and he watched his valet be killed by a lion. He loves Edie and wants to finally be with her and have a family so he starts courting her like he should have five years ago. Edie had something horrible happen to her in the past and she believes that she's ugly and not worthy of love. The poor thing doesn't know how to be loved by Stuart. He slowly works his way into her heart before she is reminded of the event that broke her spirit and he is devastated. I loved watching Stuart and Edie together. I loved the little things they did together. The way he watches her when she smiles. The walks they take in the moonlight. They needed each other more than they realized and it was so much fun to watch them stumble along the way. How to Lose a Duke in Ten Days is a combination of an adorably sweet romance and giggle-worthy moments. I could not put it down and I can't wait to continue with the series.
And hopefully, we'll get Joanna's story in the future. Please? *grin*

Hello, Laura! And hello again, Crystal. I love this review as well as the first one. A wounded hero and a wounded heroine. Wow. That's like today's divorcé and divorcée coming together with lots of baggage and trying to find a new footing together. Or a widower and widow coming together to get over their pasts.
