USA Today bestselling author Gayle Callen concludes her new series with a tale of generosity, passion, and the true kindness of the heart.

A duke who needs to be tamed…a lady who refuses to be rescued.

Adam Chamberlin was the third son of a duke, known for gambling binges and drunken nights. No one expected anything of him …until tragedy strikes. Now Adam is the new Duke of Rothford, determined to right the wrongs he’s done. Except a secret in his past means helping the one woman who doesn’t want his help at all…

It’s not every day that a duke introduces himself to a woman sitting by herself in Hyde Park. Faith Cooper is even more surprised when Adam offers her a position as a lady’s companion to his elderly aunt. Faith refuses to be beholden to a man again-certainly not this man, who both infuriates and attracts her. But with the simmering passion between them, will Faith surrender to forbidden desire?

To say that I was ambitious when I signed up to read and review all three books in the Two Dukes and a Scandal tour...would be the understatement of the year. For a person that still considers herself a newbie with historical romance, I'm quite proud of myself. Anyway, I felt that each of the three books deserved their own blog post and without further ado, here is the first of three blog posts you'll find today. The other two will be below. Enjoy!

As the third son of the Duke, Adam Chamberlin never imagined that he would someday be the next Duke of Rothford. Why should he? He's not only the son that was often blamed for everything, he was also the son of the Duke's second marriage. Nobody thought he would ever amount of anything. He gambled. He drank. He went off to war and recklessly caused the death of men in the Eighth Dragoon Guards. After the deaths of this father and two older brothers, Adam changed his scandalous ways and was determined to right the wrongs of his past. Faith Cooper is a wrong he wants to right. Faith was once a gentleman's daughter, but the death of her older brother, she was forced to find means to support herself and her mother. Adam has searched high and low for Faith and now that he's found her, he will stop at nothing to make amends for his grave mistake.

As my first Gayle Callen book, I am thoroughly hooked. The characters that Gayle creates at so freaking lovable, it hurts. I loved Adam's determination to get through to Faith. He is desperate to help her and will stoop to roping his aunt into helping his cause. When he starts to fall in love with her, he will do anything to win her over. There is nothing sexier than a man possessed. Yum! Faith is no weak heroine, either. She is an incredibly strong character forced to face her past. There were things she had to do to support her mother and while she's not proud of them, she won't let anyone put her down for doing what she had to do. Adam and Faith are adorable together. He was like a little kid in a candy store after she agrees to marry him. I also loved watching Adam and Faith interact with Sophia and Aunt Theodosia, my two favorite background characters. The four of them were as thick as thieves and I loved every moment they were together. When they were in the same room, trouble was not far behind...

Redemption of the Duke was beautifully written. I adore books where a character changes their ways to become a better person. I loved the characters. They fought, they admired, and they loved each other. I'll be on the look out for the previous 2 books in the series now. Yay!

  2. Hello, Gayle! Like you, Crystal, I also enjoy heroes that are redeemed by acts of grace and charity and strong heroines who fall in love with this type of hero. I am getting more anxious by the day to read this latest release of Gayle's. Thanks for the post! jdh2690@gmail.com

    1. Heroes wanting to redeemed themselves are worthy of all the love they receive. The previous books in the series are pretty high on my TBR now.
