As kids they steered clear of one another–but now a beautiful, well-connected reporter and a sexy, driven detective are all grown-up and on the job. . .

Moira O’Leary’s work as a reporter gives her access to some of Chicago’s swankiest soirĂ©es. She knows how to navigate the jet-set crowd, and her style and confidence help her blend right in. But when her childhood crush starts popping up at posh events, her poise begins to falter–until she realizes she has the upper hand in a high-stakes game of secrets and seduction. . .

Jimmy O’Malley has always tried to avoid his friend Liam’s little sister. Something about Moira spelled trouble. But he’s out of his element working undercover in Chicago’s high society, and Moira is his ticket to the inner circle. As sparks begin to fly–and their chemistry heats up–Moira gets dangerously close to his investigation. Will Jimmy be forced to push her away to keep her safe–or will they surrender to a desire that could leave them breathless?

Moira O'Leary is an up and coming reporter on the verge of a huge story, but what she really whats in life is what her brothers have. She wants to love someone and to be loved back. She wants her own family. Unfortunately, Moira has two problems and they both have to do with one man - Jimmy O'Malley. Moira's first problem is that she's been in love with him for as long as she can remember. The second problem? He only sees her as Liam's little sister. Or does he? Jimmy has always thought that there was something about Moira that drove him crazy. He knows that he needs to keep his distance from her, but that has become increasingly difficult now that she's helping his undercover investigation. Sparks fly as they work together, but what will her brothers say?

I adored this book. First of all, look at the cover. Oh, my gosh! I could just stare at the cover for hours upon hours. Yum... Okay, back to the book. I loved the story. I wasn't expecting the little added mystery surrounding Jimmy's undercover investigation, but I really enjoyed that element of the story. The build-up of Moira and Jimmy's relationship was fantastic. Jimmy really started off the book wanting to continue to treat Moira as his best friend's little sister, but she was over that. I was waiting for her to just clunk him over the head. If he left her hanging one more time, I might have clunked him. I loved Jimmy, but I had a little bit of a problem with Moira. Overall, I loved her character, but I just wanted to yell at her when she kept putting herself in the middle of things. Whether it was an argument between her brother and Jimmy's or putting herself smack dab in Jimmy's investigation. I felt like she was always ignoring the wishes of others by putting herself in danger and I wanted to slap some sense into her. Snap out of it, Moira!

This was my first time reading one of Shannyn's books and it won't be my last. I loved Shannyn's writing. There are some pretty steamy scenes in the book that'll fog up any mirror. There are also hysterically funny scenes with Jimmy and Moira. My favorite came at the beginning of the book when he hopes to scare her into looking after herself and Moira's response was to throw a jar of wax at him. I need to get caught up with the first books in the O'Leary series and I can't wait until the next book is published.

Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.
Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”
So she did.

That first book is safely buried on her hard drive, but the process set Shannyn on the path to where she is today—agented with a debut ebook coming out with Kensington in late 2012.
She is recovering from her Diet Coke addiction, fears putting her foot in her mouth on social media, and has a renewed appreciation for the bad girls of the world.
