Wyatt Armstrong never imagined that instead of celebrating his college graduation, he and his twin sister would be dealing with the death of their parents.  Then again, Wyatt had never been one to think past tomorrow. He heads to their summer home in Harborside, Massachusetts, with his best friend Cassidy Lowell in tow, to deal with his parents’ death and to try to figure out his next step.

Six foot two, infuriatingly handsome, and flirtatious, Wyatt Armstrong has always been there for Cassidy, helping her pass her classes and fend off unwanted advances, while driving her insane with his one-night stands—but that’s what best friends are for, isn’t it? Having each other’s backs. There was never any doubt that she would accompany him to his family’s summer home—but she never expected to begin seeing Wyatt as more than a friend. Or has she been ignoring her feelings all along?

It’s impossible to ignore the sizzling heat between them as Wyatt and Cassidy get even closer, but Cassidy knows Wyatt’s past, and she has a real job to begin in the fall. Wyatt may be a sure thing for the summer, but Cassidy needs more. For the first time in his life, Wyatt is forced to look toward the future if he doesn’t want to lose the one woman who’s shared his past and owns his heart.

Wow... Another Melissa Foster book that I absolutely loved, but with a twist this time. I have a blossoming love for new adult romances. I don't know what it is about them that I devour, but I can't seem to get enough of them. Is it the angst? What about the raw emotion? Or maybe it is just being able to follow characters that are still trying to figure out life. Now add my love for NA to my love for Melissa Foster and, holy cow, I was in romance heaven, The emotional ride Melissa took me on during Catching Cassidy was unbelievable. The new group of characters that are introduced in this series are lovable, each of them trying to find their way. I fell in love with both Wyatt and Cassidy from the moment I met them. After the death of his parents, Wyatt is left stunned. Suddenly, he's forced to grow up and take over his father's bar. If that wasn't enough, he has also discovered new feelings towards Cassidy, his best friend who might be leaving him at the end of the summer. Not able to deal with losing another person in his life, Wyatt stumbles more times then he probably cares to remember. Cassidy is just as lost as Wyatt. Her heart is leading her one way, but her parents are forcing her in another. It is only when they stop and take a few moments of just being with each other do they find the bravery needed to make their own path in life.

I am so excited to see how Melissa mores forward with the Harborside Nights series. It is quite a departure from her much loved Bradens series, but it is still the same Melissa Foster style that I love. I have a feeling that the next book in the series is going to be a little bit of a challenge for me to read just because it has an element that I've never read in a book, but I am looking forward to seeing Melissa's take on it.

She's sassy and sweet

The last thing Glory Mann wants is to become chairman of the Miss Peach Pageant in Sugar, Georgia. Spending months hearing nothing but the clinking of pearls and judgment? No thank you! But when Glory is forced to take the rap for a scandal she didn't commit, the judge sentences her to head the committee. Even worse, her co-chairman is rugged, ripped . . . and barely knows she's alive.

He's ready and willing

Single dad Cal McGraw can't take any more drama in his life. After a difficult divorce, his little girl became a boy-crazy teenager and his hands are full. The last thing he needs is to spend his down time with the town bad girl. Glory is pure trouble-tempting and tantalizing trouble. But he can't deny the strong chemistry between them-or how her touch turns him inside out. Now as squabbles threaten to blow up the contest and the town of Sugar itself, Cal must risk everything on the sexy wild card to get a second chance at love . . .

Holy Sweetness, Batman! Marina Adair's Sugar on Top rocked my Kindle. I devoured it in record time and would have gladly stayed on a sugar high if it meant spending more time with sexy as sin Cal McGraw and adorably misunderstood Glory Mann. Seriously, I did not want to leave them. I loved every moment I spent in their company. The chemistry Marina created was phenomenal, not just between Cal and Glory, but also with potential future couples. The raw sexual tension between Cal and Glory was sizzling hot. I loved their progression from an awkward friendship at the beginning of the book to their declarations of adoration at the end. I loved watching them drift closer and closer until their first kiss... Swoon!! Sugar on Top was everything I wanted after I fell in love with the first book in Adair's Sugar, Georgia series. I laughed as they fumbled along. I giggled as the four girls met and plotted against the crazy grandmas. I cried as Glory fought to pull herself together after the inevitable monkey wrench towards the end of the book. Everything else in between left a big smile on my face. Swoon!

I usually don't read the included excerpts of the next book in the series because it'll just make me want the next book now, but I did this time... Charlotte and Jace... Yes, please!! And I've got everything crossed for a Spenser and Jackson book. Please, Marina? There are some major fireworks between those two... Until then, I seriously need to go back and read Marina's other works. More to look forward to. Yay!!

The only thing hotter than a cowboy...

Math teacher Lyndsay De Luca never surprised anyone-least of all herself-until this summer. First, she secretly published her debut romance novel. Then she started dating Will Sweet, the cowboy of her dreams. And now Lyndsay’s scrambling to hide the juiciest tidbit of all: that the hazel-eyed hero of her steamy fiction is the same guy whose kisses have become her mind-blowing reality.

Is a cowboy in love.

Ever since Will’s high school sweetheart died in a tragic accident, he hasn’t been able to commit to a long-term relationship. Lyndsay is the first woman in years who’s been able to catch-and keep-his attention. She’s fascinated by his work at Sweetheart Ranch, and a glance from her gorgeous brown eyes sends Will’s thoughts wandering. Will she be the one to finally break down the walls around his guarded heart?

Welcome back to Valentine Valley, Colorado!

Ever After at Sweetheart Ranch, the sixth book in Emma Cane's Valentine Valley series, left me with some mixed emotions. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I adore this series and although the one left me wanting more, I still loved re-visiting this crazy little town. Because it left me with jumbled emotions, I'm going to do another bullet-style review focusing on the four aspects of the book that stood out to me the most: characters, relationship, the widows, and the plot.

  • Characters: I loved the characters! Sigh... Poor Will. The death of his high school sweetheart left him so wounded. He blames himself for her death and believes that he doesn't deserve a loving marriage with children, things that she can never have. It takes a lot for Will to break down the wall that surrounded his heart, but once he admits that he's ready to take the chance, he's able to imagine a future with the love of his life. Lyndsay did something I could never do... She knew what she wanted and went for it knowing that her heart could get broken when all was said and done. There's a lot to be said about her determination, not just to become a published author, but also to show Will how much she loves him and is there for him, even if it means having her heart stomped on when they break up.
  • Relationship: The relationship between Will and Lyndsay left me wanting more. I went into the book knowing that their relationship was going to be brief for two reasons. Will avoids commitment and Lyndsay goes into it knowing that it can end at any moment. With that said, I still would have loved more time with them as a couple.
  • The Widows: Yes!! I freaking loved the widows in this book. I am so glad that we finally learn more about the feud between Grandma Sweet and Mrs. Thalberg. I loved watching them battle in the election. These ladies must have been little spitfires as teenagers. A prequel with them would be amazing.
  • Plot: I loved the overall plot. I adore friends-to-lovers romances that take place in small towns with crazy and meddling old women. My issue with the plot is with the pacing of the book. There is a lot happening in the book and, because of the fast pace, I'm pretty sure that this was why I wanted more of the relationship. In all honesty, it almost felt as if the actual relationship didn't have as much focus in the book as I would have liked.

Overall, I really enjoyed Ever After at Sweetheart Ranch. It was a fantastic addition to the Valentine Valley series. I just had a couple minor issues with the book that left me with some mixed emotions about the story.

Emma Cane grew up reading and soon discovered that she liked to write passionate stories of teenagers in space. Her love of “passionate stories” has never gone away, although today she concentrates on the heartwarming characters of Valentine, her fictional small town in the Colorado Rockies.

Now that her three children are grown, Emma loves spending time crocheting and singing (although not necessarily at the same time), and hiking and snowshoeing alongside her husband Jim and two rambunctious dogs Apollo and Uma.

When a blonde city girl knocks him off his feet, he refuses to walk away from desire. But it doesn't take long for Brody to realize the past is returning to haunt him—and it goes back farther than one wild night.

The last thing Kat wants is a reason to extend her stay in Independence Falls. But she can't escape the memory of Brody's wicked touch. As their passion heats up, Brody wonders if he's falling for the one woman who doesn't need rescuing.

Coming home romance? Check!
Sweet romance between two broken, but lovable characters? Check!
Sizzling chemistry that is so hot it threatens to start a forest fire? Double check!!

Sara Jane Stone's Wild With You is all that and more. Fans of Sara's Independence Falls series met Brody Summers in a previous book. They know that he's all about his family, that he'll go to the ends of the Earth to protect those he loves. Brody has always put his family before his own needs and, because of that, he hasn't had time to fall in love. That all changes when Kat walks back into his life. Although he doesn't recognize her at first, he is immediately taken aback by her beauty and take charge attitude. As a foster child, Kat was often ignored and shuffled off to a different family once the checks stopped coming. After graduation, she left Independence Falls without looking back to become a successful and independent woman. It doesn't take long for Brody to remember Kat as the lonely teenage he once helped with her shoes. And now that she is back in his life, he's determined to prove to Kat that she can love and be loved.

I adore Sara Jane Stone. She is quickly becoming a new favorite author of mine. Sara's Independence Falls series is amazing. The mix of sweetness and sizzling hot romance is addictive. Her characters are down to earth and so damn lovable. Although I somehow missed the previous book in the series (sorry, Chad!), I fell for Brody back in book two. He is an incredibly strong character. I love how determined he is to protect his family and to rescue those in trouble. The moment he met Kat in high school, his first instinct was to help her in a way that no one else had. He took the time for her out of his schedule and that one moment of kindness stuck with her for years. Kat is so very strong in her own way. She's intelligent and strong-willed. She fought through the unfortunate crap she was dealt with as a child and rose above it. Watching these two characters come together warmed my heart...and raised the temperature more than a few degrees during their sexy times. I'm mad at myself for missing the previous book, but I am on pins and needles for Josh's story. I have a feeling that it is going to be one hell of an emotional ride.

Meg Rosenthal: Matchmaker by day, realist by night, Meg is not about to get swept away by a charming, darkly handsome businessman in a designer suit.

She’s come to a beautiful secluded resort to evaluate the private island’s potential for her agency, not to ogle its owner. But there’s something about the magnetic man that’s hard to resist, even for a woman who refuses to fall in love.

Valentino Masini: A successful and drop-dead sexy businessman, Valentino is used to having the finer things in life. Yet he’s never wanted someone the way he wants Meg, who’s stirring up a hurricane of trouble in his heart. But just as he decides to convince her to stay, someone else decides it might be time to get Meg off the island...permanently.

Before jumping into my review for Seduced by Sunday, I feel a confession coming on. A couple years ago, I picked up the first book in Catherine's Weekday Bride series and fell in love. Then I had the pleasure of meeting Catherine at the 2012 RWA in Anaheim and totally fangirl'd. So one would think I've read every book in this fabulous series right? Well... I read the second book... And that's where I stopped. Could someone please whack me with a paperback?

When I was offered an ARC of Seduced by Sunday, I jumped on the chance because I've been wanting to come back to the series that I fell in love with and this was the perfect opportunity. I loved Seduced by Sunday. From the moment I opened it on my Kindle, I was immediately sucked back into the world of romance mixed with a little bit of intrigue. Meg sort of feels out of place. She's surrounded by millionaires looking for an arrange married and, if she's being honest with herself, that has made her a little jaded towards love. When she starts communicating with Valentino, Meg is inexplicably drawn to him. Once they meet face to face, Valentino is just as drawn and attracted to Meg as she is with him. They love to push each other's buttons and soon they find themselves falling for each other when it just might cost them dearly.

Seduced by Sunday lured me in and wouldn't let me go until I finished it a couple hours later. The characters were fantastic. It was such a joy meeting new friends (characters that I need to go back and read their books) and reminiscing with old friends. I loved the setting of a secluded island where you can turn off the world... An island where not everything is as it seems. The intrigue behind the mysterious photos kept my attention. Now that I'm back with the Weekday Brides, I know that I'll be going back to read the books I missed while I patiently wait for the next book. And I'm hoping it is Gabi's turn.

Can a bold-faced lie lead to everlasting love? One by one, the impetuous heroines in the Wicked Deceptions series intend to find out, each in her unique way…

How to seduce an estranged husband—and banish debt!—in four wickedly improper, shockingly pleasurable steps...

  1. Learn the most intimate secrets of London’s leading courtesan.
  2. Pretend to be a courtesan yourself, using the name Juliet Leighton.
  3. Travel to Venice and locate said husband.
  4. Seduce husband, conceive an heir, and voila, your future is secure!

For Julia, the Duchess of Colton, such a ruse promises to be foolproof. After all, her husband has not bothered to lay eyes on her in eight years, since their hasty wedding day when she was only sixteen. But what begins as a tempestuous flirtation escalates into full-blown passion—and the feeling is mutual!

Could the man the Courtesan Duchess married actually turn out to be the love of her life?

To catch his eye, be both temptress and maiden. An
innocent harlot is what most men desire at the end of
the day.
—Miss Pearl Kelly to the Duchess of Colton

Venice, November 1816

The following night, Julia and Simon entered the duke’s box at La Fenice. The interior of the opera house, with its noble yet simple architecture, was luxurious. Rows of private boxes surrounded the gilded interior for the wealthiest of patrons, while the floor provided ample space for those of lesser means.

Colton’s large box was crowded, with at least six men and an equal number of women. The need to search for her husband, however, was rendered unnecessary as he immediately appeared at her side.

“Mrs. Leighton,” the duke greeted as she curtsied. He took in her embroidered white satin dress with its silver bandeau and accompanying emerald green robe. “How stunning you look this evening.”

She could say the same about him. The duke wore a fitted black tailcoat and breeches over a singlebreasted white waistcoat, which emphasized his lean torso. His snowy cravat, folded in a complicated array of knots under his clean-shaven chin, proved a stark contrast to his dark features. When he noticed her staring, he gifted her with a smile both intimate and sly, almost as if the two of them shared a private joke. Her breath came a bit faster despite her resolution to remain unaffected. “Good evening, Your Grace.”

Nick greeted Simon and then introduced the rest of the party. There were two ambassadors—one former and one current—as well as a Russian count, a Venetian painter, and a French actor. While the women were beautiful, one could discern by their dress and demeanor that there were no wives in attendance. Well, if one didn’t count her, she thought.

Nick led them to their seats. Julia used the opportunity to struggle with a swatch of hair that had fallen over her forehead. Fiorella, the young girl she’d hired as a lady’s maid, wasn’t as proficient with hair as Meg back in London. Tonight, Fiorella had lifted Julia’s thick red hair up in a series of artful curls and secured it with a silver band. But one unruly layer would not cooperate, and it drooped down to almost completely cover her right eye. With no hope of righting her coiffure on her own, Julia had little choice but to ignore it.

As they settled, she wasn’t the least bit surprised to find herself seated between Nick and Simon. On Simon’s other side was an empty chair, but it was soon filled with a striking Venetian actress. Nick relaxed in his seat and pressed the outside of his leg against Julia’s knee. She lifted her glasses to peer into the audience and willed her heart to slow.

“Did the flowers meet with your approval, Mrs. Leighton?”

The previous day, Nick had sent her a large bouquet of white roses, artfully arranged in a colorful vase made from Murano glass. It was a stunning display. His card had been concise and clever: To friendship.

Part of her was so angry over the gesture she wanted to shout at him like a fishwife. He couldn’t bother to send his wife of eight years a mere note . . . and yet rushed forward with a token of regard to a woman he’d met not even twenty-four hours earlier. Julia swallowed her outrage and bitterness in order to remember the part she played and the reason for it. Tonight, the goal was to flirt, thereby ensuring the duke’s interest in her charms. “They are exquisite, Your Grace. You are too generous,” she replied, giving him a teasing glance through her lashes.

“I fear you have high standards, Mrs. Leighton. After all, I heard you once sent a necklace back to Wellington because it contained an odd number of diamonds rather than even.”

Julia bit her cheek to keep from laughing. That particular anecdote was one of Aunt Theo’s contributions to Mrs. Leighton’s legend.

“Oh, that story is tiresome. I did no such thing.” Julia raised her glasses again to blithely peer out at the crowd. “I sent it back because it was ugly.”

Nick gave a short, genuine bark of laughter. “Well, I shall endeavor to be more selective in my gifts.”

“Are there to be more gifts, Your Grace?” She meant for the comment to be playful and flirtatious, but her voice betrayed her with a husky and intimate tone.

His lids dipped and he edged closer. “Whatever you wish for, Mrs. Leighton, shall be yours.”

Julia couldn’t prevent the shiver that traveled the length of her body. Thanks to Pearl’s instructions, the sensual promise in his words was not lost on her. While she knew exactly what he wanted from her, she could only be grateful that Nick had no suspicion of what she wanted from him.

The music swelled, sparing her the need to respond.

With her husband’s leg tucked snugly against hers, any effort to concentrate on Rossini’s heroic opera failed. She used the opportunity to think over her plan.

First, gain Colton’s interest. Next, stage a fallingout with Simon in public. Colton would then pursue her and, a few days later, she would allow him to catch her. All that remained would be to engage in activities as old as time, as often as possible.

Julia was nervous, but not scared. Pearl had given her the basic details of what took place, plus ways to increase a man’s pleasure. She’d also learned, despite her initial embarrassment, about her own pleasure since Pearl maintained that a courtesan as successful as the mythical Mrs. Leighton would ensure both partners enjoyed the experience.

But Julia had been unprepared for what it would feel like to sit next to this compellingly handsome man, her husband, while the heat from his muscled thigh warmed her leg through layers of clothing. His well-proportioned body so near, their shoulders lightly touching, had her insides now throbbing in time with the beat of her heart. She hadn’t expected to be so attracted to him. After all, he had ignored her for so long that she’d built up a sizable amount of resentment toward him. But those feelings were fast receding in the face of his wickedly powerful presence.

Struggling with the idea of actually liking him, Julia wondered if such a thing made her goal easier or more difficult to accomplish.

In the end, it didn’t matter. Templeton must be stopped and producing the Colton heir was the only way to do it.

She decided to tempt him a bit. After all, she needed to seduce the man.

Julia let her opera glasses fall from her fingertips to the carpeted floor between them, where they landed with a thud. “Oh!” she whispered. The duke’s head turned her way, a black eyebrow raised in question.

“Your Grace, I seem to have dropped my opera glasses. Would you be so kind?”

Nick politely inclined his head before he bent over, his fingers searching in the semi-darkness for her glasses. Julia waited a beat and then lifted the hem of her skirt and petticoats up to her shins. Sliding her leg toward him a bit, she was rewarded when his fingertips brushed her stocking-covered ankle.

His shoulders tensed, as if she’d surprised him, and then she felt his hand, ever so slowly, slide up the back of her calf, his touch a white-hot charge through the silk. She couldn’t prevent a gasp from escaping.

When he reached the back of her knee, his fingers lingered there, drawing a delicate pattern on the soft underside. Julia closed her eyes and bit her lip while trying to maintain her composure. Something hot and needy unfurled low in her belly, a feeling she suspected was unbridled arousal for her husband.

He seemed in no hurry to remove his hand and Julia wasn’t sure how much more she could take without moaning in sheer bliss. “Do you see them, Your Grace?” she breathed.

His hand fell away, and a second later he straightened. “Your glasses, Mrs. Leighton.”

“Thank you,” she murmured, and accepted the glasses from his hand.

“Anytime,” he returned, his husky tone making the meaning quite clear.

Her cheeks flooded with heat, and she was grateful for the low light that hid her blush. She attempted to calm herself throughout the remainder of the first act.

Just before the second act began, Nick leaned over again, and his now-familiar scent of citrus and musk teased her nose. “May I escort you home later, Mrs. Leighton?”

“Simon shall escort me home. And as helpful as you’ve been this evening, I’m not currently seeking another bed partner, Your Grace.”

“Oh, no. It’s much too soon to become lovers.” He drew closer to her ear, his warm breath tickling her skin. “When I finally take you, Juliet, when I finally have you naked underneath me, the memory of every other man you’ve been with will be forgotten. You shall think of only me . . . and beg me to make you mine.”

All the air left her chest in a whoosh. A rush of desire swept through her, so strong her knees surely would have given out if she’d been standing. He was the very devil, everything dark and forbidden and wanting in her life.

And she was way out of her depth.

She searched for something witty to say but came up empty.

Until words she’d heard spoke by Pearl months before came to mind. They tumbled out of Julia’s mouth. “I wonder if you truly possess the skill to back up your arrogance.”

His eyes heated to liquid silver. “If you find a private alcove, I’ll happily demonstrate my abilities before the end of the performance. After all, it’s only fair to know what you’re getting.”

The mention of the alcove was like a douse of cold water. How many alcoves and how many women were in his past? No doubt he’d trysted in buildings from Paris to Pisa. Still, she played her part. “An alcove? I hadn’t thought you so unoriginal.”

Saying yes has always come easy for Fallon. Now, as Renita Pizzitola’s steamy, poignant Crush series continues, winning her dream job means saying no to the guy she wants the most.

Between all the parties and random hook-ups, Fallon Carr is this close to flunking out of college. But her internship working with pediatric patients means the world to her—especially since, at the end of the summer, one lucky intern will be offered a paid position. Determined to leave her bad reputation behind, Fallon even takes a bet that she won’t sleep with anyone from work. But there’s one little catch. . . .

Not only is Cade Ryan the hottest guy Fallon has ever laid eyes on, he’s a therapy dog handler who volunteers his time to visit kids at the hospital. So when he starts pursuing her, Fallon can’t believe her bad timing. The thing is, Cade is different. He’s not like the college guys who see her as a one-night stand, or the high-school boyfriend who took a part of her she can never get back. Cade genuinely wants to spend time with her—and not just between the sheets.

Fallon won’t let her growing feelings for Cade get in the way of her dreams. Besides, no guy can break down the walls she put up long ago. So what’s the harm in a little flirting? It’s not like she’s falling in love. But she may have seriously underestimated how complicated things can get when the perfect guy falls for her first.

Just a Little Flirt was an adorable addition to Renita Pizzitola's new adult series, Crush. I loved going back to visit her characters. Although, I must say that this was a side of boy-crazy Fallon that I was not expecting... Just a Little Flirt showcased a slow-building romance between Fallon (a secondary character we met in the first book) and Cade Ryan. Fallon is determined to be on her best behavior in hopes of scoring a sought after position with the hospital after her summer internship is over. It doesn't take long before her willpower begins to crumble under the lustful eye of sexy Cade. While his patience is wearing thin, Cade waits for Fallon to let her guard down before he makes his move. And by then, all bets are off...

I had a lot of fun reading Just a Little Flirt. It was just as fun-loving as the previous book was. Fallon still had her hysterical side, especially when she relentlessly teased Cade. If you go back to my review for the first book, Just a Little Crush, you'll see that I originally wanted her with Mason. I totally take that back. Don't get me wrong. Mason is a great character and I can't wait to watch him fall to his knees for a girl (hopefully soon), its just that Cade was the perfect match for her. He's patient and kind. He knows when to push her buttons and when to let Fallon take the lead. And not to mention he's also a little sneaky. I loved watching them first become friends and then work their way towards falling in love. Such a fun book to enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon, which was when I read it. I have a feeling that Mason's story will be just as delightful (and hopefully from his perspective).
