He wore the skin of a killer, and bore the heart of a lover...

There's nothing Truman Gritt won't do to protect his family--Including spending years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. When he's finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother's overdose, and Truman steps in to raise the children she's left behind. Truman's hard, he's secretive, and he's trying to save a brother who's even more broken than he is. He's never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he's less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people's lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Truman's dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he'll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

To say that I've read a handful of Melissa Foster's books would be a small understatement. I can go on and on about how much I adore her characters or how much I love her writing style. To keep my reviews from sounding repetitive, I like to pick a word or sometimes a phrase that best describes my feeling towards the book. One of the many elements of Melissa's books that stand out to me is the feeling of love conquers all. Above all else, "love conquers all" was the driving force behind Tru Blue and that's why I picked it to be my phrase for the book. Each character in Tru Blue exhibits unconditional love. Whether it is romantic love between Truman and Gemma or unconditional parental love they have for Lincoln and Kennedy, Melissa shows that love comes in all forms. It may take tough love to get through the thickest of minds, Melissa's characters don't give up. That feeling of love is what stayed with me far after I finished Tru Blue.

Plus, who can resist that cover? Tattoo'd man with a baby? Yes, please!
