Pass the Popcorn: Turn off your laptop at night...

A couple weeks ago I was browsing Amazon Prime and Netflix and I wasn't finding a movie that flipped my popcorn. The Den was a movie that I've seen on Netflix a handful of times, but never really paid much attention to it. Since nothing else was piquing my interest, I thought what the hell.

Turn off your laptop at night...

After I finally decided on The Den, I settled in for the night with Melissa Foster's Carson on my Kindle. If you've been here before (or have browsed my review archive), then you'll know that I have a slight obsession with Melissa Foster. This was probably the first time that I was able to finish both the book and the movie at nearly the same time. I did stay up a bit later to finish Carson, but I always do that when I'm reading a Foster book. As for The Den... Well, it taught me three things... 1. When browsing a video chat room, stick with the dancing dicks. Real, cartoon, or anywhere in the middle... It doesn't matter. You are safer with them. 2. Turn off your laptop at night, especially when having sex. 3. If you come across someone whose camera is "broken," run like hell.

What did I think about the movie? For a movie that I was initially hesitant towards, I actually really enjoyed it. The first part of the movie made me giggle-snort. I mean, hello... Dancing dicks. Need I say more? As for the scary elements, that came much later in the movie. The audience sees some of what is happening to Elizabeth while she's trying to figure it out. The scenes involving her laptop were freaky as hell and made me so glad I use a desktop in my bedroom. More importantly, a desktop without a webcam. There are a couple of gory scenes towards the climax of the movie, but it's nothing over-the-top. Overall, a good scary flick with a bit of a twisted ending. Plus I love that it is either shown through a laptop or a phone screen.

What about the book? I adore Melissa Foster, so it should come as no surprise that I loved Carson. He's bad, sexy as sin, and kinky to boot. As for Tawny... I love a woman that goes for what she wants. You go girl!

I reviewed Carson a few weeks ago. If you'd like to visit the original blog post, you can do so by clicking here.

If you have a movie that you want me to watch, comment below. It doesn't have to be horror.

  3. I haven't heard of the Den but I'll make sure to check it out! It sounds pretty fun. Also, why don't people in movies ever close their laptops? Like that's an easy way for no one to see you through your camera!
