2018 Challenges... Have I lost my mind?

Hello friends! It's that time of year... The announcing of the 2018 Reading Challenges! I'm convinced I have lost my damn mind. Why? Well, I'm going to attempt 10 challenges this year. TEN! I'm going in this with a calm and collected attitude. In the past year I've learned that I'm okay if I don't complete one. They're a fun and creative way to get me to either read more books I love or read books I wouldn't normally reach for. A couple of them even help me with my blogger goals for 2018. More on that later... One thing I am doing a bit differently is that all of my challenge sign-ups will be in this one post. It's easier for me to track and link.

So, without further ado... Here are the challenges I'll be participating in 2018...

Blog All About It Challenge

I've discovered that I enjoy doing discussion posts. Who knew? It was something I avoided for year, but now I'm having fun with them. So I've decided to join Anna's Blog All About It Challenge. I don't know if I'll do themed reviews each month, but I look forward to getting creative each month.

Blogger Shame Challenge
Goal: 12+ books

This challenge is connected directly to one of my reading and blogging goals for 2018. Again, more on that later. I love that Anna lowered the "past due date" to 4 months, which will make things a bit easier. My goal will be 12 books, but I'll be aiming much higher so it'll help me with my blogging goal.

Try Something New Challenge
Level 3: 21-40 books

I love this challenge! And it's usually one that I complete most years. Not only do I love finding new-to-me authors, but I've also noticed that a couple of my favorites are trying new genres. I know this'll be a fun challenge to work on because it'll be a mix of new authors and favorite authors with new genres.

All About the Trope Challenge
Goal: 6-10 books

This one I'm a bit iffy with. I will probably do a separate post on this challenge in January to talk about it in more detail because I will probably pick more than one troupe. So my goal will be 6-10 books in each troupe I pick.

Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge
Hosted by Andi's ABCs
Grand Slam: read 21+ books

I don't think this one needs any explanation. Me + Contemporary Romance = Addiction ... I do want to participate in the monthly topics this year. I didn't even know that existed last year. I'm so lame...

Literary Pickers Reading Challenge
Hosted by Delighted Reader
Level Two: Garage Sale Guru - 25 items/ 25 places

Not gonna lie... This one just sounds like a lot of fun. I love scavenger hunts... Plus it's something I haven't seen before on such a large scale.

The Series That Never.. Ends Challenge
Hosted by Delighted Reader
Level Two – 10-15 books – Removing the Thorn From My Side

This one definitely plays into a reading goal I have for 2018. There are a couple authors I want to get caught up with. One of which is Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series. I'm pretty sure I'll do a separate blog post in January. Maybe it'll be a discussion post...

The Bad Boys of Romance Reading Challenge
Hosted by Delighted Reader
Level Two – 10-15 books – Engaged to the Bad Boy

Again, no explanation needed. I do need to keep better track of this one in 2018. I did such a bad job tracking it that I'm not sure if I completed it.

2018 Review Writing Challenge
Hosted by Delighted Reader
Goal: 100 Reviews

Oh, how I hemmed and hawed over this one. On one hand, it plays into my blogging goals for 2018. But... If I set a number on reviews, it could put too much pressure and I'll go bizerk by next October. I would love to do more than 100 reviews, but I feel like that 100 is an attainable number.

Book Blog Discussion Challenge
11-20 – Creative Conversationalist

I'm going for it! One of my blogging goals for 2018 is to do more discussion posts so this one will come in handy. I don't know how many I'm going to do. It may be once a month. I may skip a month and do 2 the next. I do know that I would like to do at least 12 posts for this challenge. Bonus points for me if I do 12 separate posts and not combine it with the Post All About It Challenge.

So, there you have it. My overly ambitious reading and blogging challenges for 2018. I'm still going into this pretty chill. I know it looks like a lot, but I also know that it'll be okay if I don't complete all of them. I'm working on a new system to help me track and update my progress, so stay tuned for that. Don't forget to comment below and let me know what challenges you're doing.

Until then... I hope you're having a fun and festive holiday season!

  2. Shazam! I'm excited for you to get into all your challenges. I, too, am going for getting in more discussions, review books, and books I wouldn't normally read. Rooting for you, Crystal! :)
