Crystal Memes: Revisiting My Favorite Book

Hello friends! This week's topic from Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer's Book Blogger Hop was one that I've thought about for awhile now -- could you ever pick a favorite book or is it like choosing your favorite child? Since I like to do things a little differently, I put a twist on my answer. Instead, I want to chat a bit about one of my all-time favorites books that I actually read when I was 14.

In 1995, a little known movie changed my life. I say little know because if you ask anyone about this movie chances are they won't have a clue what you are talking about. This movie introduced me to Chris O'Donnell, who is still my celebrity crush. It also introduced me to one of the most influential books I've ever read. The movie? Circle of Friends. And of course, the book of the same name.

Now I feel like you have to stop the similarity there. While the movie is based on the Maeve Binchy novel, they are nothing alike. I love both equally for on their own merits. The book, however, is a fabulous. It deals with coming of age, love, betrayal, society, friendship, and, most importantly, learning to accept yourself. I loved that it has a huge cast of characters and the book isn't just in Benny's perspective. The element I loved most was Benny herself and how easy she was to relate to. All she wanted to do was to explore and find love. To do so, it wound up costing her so much.

I would love to pick up Circle of Friends again and see if I would love it as much now as I did then. I'm always scouting for it at used bookstores and to hopefully catch it on sale on Amazon. I haven't had any luck so far. Sadly, it's just as difficult to find the movie as well.

What is your all-time favorite book? Can you pick one or is it like choosing your favorite child?
