Jack St. Claire is desperate. A grieving single father, he buries himself in his work—running a brand-new kink club in Paris. Instead of handling his grief, he’s built a fortress around his heart, and it’s time he hired someone to help him take care for his daughter before things get worse.

Camille Aubert wasn’t looking for a new job. She just wanted to return a lost love letter she’d found within the pages of a book. But when she’s mistaken for a job candidate and hired as Jack’s live-in nanny, something tells her this is exactly where she needs to be.

Shortly after arriving, Camille discovers a strange room in the apartment that sparks her curiosity—and hints at a dark, mysterious side to Jack that she’s desperate to uncover. The lines between professional and personal blur dangerously as the heat between them becomes impossible to ignore. She’s drawn to the broken man who hides his grief in ropes and bondage, and she challenges him in ways he never thought possible.

Caught between her growing feelings for Jack and the ghosts of his past, Camille must can love heal a heart still grieving, or will their passion destroy them both?

Sara Cate is back with a whole new Salacious generation. I don't know if we are prepared for what's to come. I know I'm not. I loved the Salacious Players Club series. It introduced to me to Sara's world and got me absolutely hooked on her books. Her books are sexy with characters you want to fall in love with. Erotic romance is one of my favorite tropes/genre within romance and I tend to devour books from my favorite erotic romance authors. The Good Girl Effect was no different.

We first met Jack St. Claire for the first time in Madame (the final book in the SPC series). After the death of his wife, Jack has closed himself off from life. He's detached from his daughter, often refusing to speak French with her. He's detached from his friends and siblings, which throws a wrench in the success of Legacy, the adult club they recently inheritated from their parents. He is blindsided when Camille bulldozes her way into his life. Camille is immediately drawn to Jack's mysterious ways after finding a picture of him with his late wife. She's not quite sure why she has quit her job to become a nanny when all she wanted to do was return the photo. As much as they try, Jack and Camille can't stay away from each other. It doesn't help that Camille is constantly in his space. At home and at work. It doesn't take long for them to give into their attraction and desires. What starts as lessons quickly becomes something deeper, something powerful. Something either of them can deny.

I loved The Good Girl Effect and I am so excited to be in the Salacious world again. I'm tempted to do a cheeky re-read of the original series before the 2nd book in Salacious Legacy comes out. Sara's characters stay with you. They a bold, yet burdened. Most are wounded in some way. Jack and Camille needed each other more than they realized. Through their relationship with rope play, they calmed each other's souls and healed wounds. It calmed them, gave them control, and an escape. So, of course, it eventually got deeper. And I loved it for them. The Good Girl Effect had the characters I've come to love and Sara's writing was perfection. So good!
