There's a man in this town that everyone depends on. Chief Brady Mills.
He's the first one through the door when the world goes wrong. Steady, capable, large hands.
He doesn't ask for help. He doesn't break down. He doesn't let anyone see what it costs him to be the man who holds it all together.
But behind closed doors he's not the chief. He's not the hero. He's just a man who's been carrying too much for too long, and the only thing he wants is the one person he can't have.
She left five years ago. He never stopped thinking about her.
I'm back, bitches! Late last year, I started reviewing again. Mostly on Goodreads and Amazon through Booksprout. After a couple months, it dawned on me... Why am I not posting these on my website? Truth be told, I miss having my own space where I can talk about books. I suck at Instagram. Tiktok terrifies me. So, here we are. Things may change a bit. I have the itch to change up the look. For now, I'm back. No set schedule. I'm just going to go with the flow. I hate that saying...
After years of being a little hesitant to read them, I can safely say I am addicted to novellas and short stories. There is something satisfying with the instant attraction (most times over the top) they offer. I know I am in for an hour or so of steamy, sizzling chemistry between 2 (or more) characters. They're fast past and pack quite the sexy punch. Callie Embers is a new to me author that is quickly rising to auto-read satus. Naw, she's already an auto-read. Her Thunder Valley Fire & Rescue series have loveable characters and action that keep me on my toes. Kiss Me Chief is the second novella in the series. We met Chief Mills in the last novella. He's been burned by love five years ago. When that love walks back into his life during a severe winter storm, he's thrown for a loop and directly into a life threatening situation. Good thing he keeps a strong head on his shoulder... for now. I loved Brady and Lexi. Five years later, their love for each other hasn't deminished and their willingness to fight for each other has gotten stronger. I loved that their road wasn't easy, but they work towards a future together.
Callie Embers is a new auto-read author for me. Her writing style is both fun. I love her characters. And I gotta say, she's making me want to pick up more romances with natural disasters. I love the action!
Originally from the historic coastal town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Callie Embers earned her journalism degree and spent a decade as an investigative reporter.
Through extensive research and interviews, she discovered stories of love, loss, and resilience that demanded to be told in a deeper, more intimate format than news articles could provide.
Now, from her cozy Cambridge apartment with her rescue cat Spark, she crafts compelling romance novels that capture the heart of human courage and connection. When she's not writing, Callie volunteers at the animal shelter and attends local charity events, always drawing inspiration from the remarkable people she meets.
