Love is always worth the risk . . .

Neil Healy was happy to be promoted to Air Force Lieutenant, but he's less than thrilled that the new job has brought him back to his hometown. The memories alone could kill a man, to say nothing of actually seeing the woman he never got over. Neil knew avoiding Becky Westmore would be impossible, but he didn't expect the chemistry between them to be as strong as ever.

All Becky wants this holiday season is to get through the month of December with her sanity intact. Not helping? Her ex-boyfriend's return to Glenwood Falls. Even after a decade apart, Neil still makes her feel in ways no other man has. But Christmas is a time for miracles, and maybe Becky's will be a second chance at first love.

I've been on sort of a roller-coaster with Jennifer Snow's Colorado Ice series. From the outside, this series has a lot of the elements I love. I mean, hello... It's a hockey loving family. Plus it takes place in Colorado and my dad's side of the family are actually from some of the places mentioned in this novella. So needless to say I was flabbergasted when I didn't connect with Maybe This Kiss the first time I tried reading it.

Jump forward to last month's HoHoHo Readathon... I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give Maybe This Kiss another shot. I'm happy to say that I actually finished it this time. So score one for the novella. While I did enjoy reading Maybe This Kiss, it felt too short. Like it was a novella introducing Becky and Neil's romance instead of their complete story. I think I would have liked it more as a full length book. Other than that, I thought Jennifer's writing style was fantastic. Her characters were lovable and welcomed me with open arms. I loved that the novella took place in parts of Colorado I'm a little familiar with, especially Pueblo. Since I have the 2nd book, I'm going to give that one another shot and see how that goes. I've got my fingers crossed that it I'll like it this time 'round.
