Review: Wild, Crazy Hearts (The Bradens & Montgomerys #4) by Melissa Foster

"Did you not just hear me say how much I love you? How I'm trying to change because I want us to last? How much I want to communicate better? I'm sorry I had to leave to figure it out. You can hold that against me, but I hope you won't." - Brindle Montgomery

High school teacher Brindle Montgomery and rancher Trace Jericho have been close friends forever and on-again off-again lovers for years. As rebellious as they are stubborn, they’re both perfectly happy with their no-strings-attached hookups. But when Brindle returns from a trip to Paris with a baby bump, it sends Trace’s wild, crazy heart into a frenzy—and Brindle is left wondering if she’s made the biggest mistake of her life.

Welcome back to the wild world of Melissa Foster. In this episode, we meet Trace and Brindle, or as they are more commonly known - Trindle.

Just kidding.

Kind of...

All jokes aside, readers finally get the long awaited romance between Trace and Brindle, two characters with more explosive chemistry in their pinkie fingers than is probably safe. A bombshell was dropped the last time we see Brindle. She's finally home from France and she's pregnant. Talk about getting those small-town rumor mills going!

As with all of the Foster books I've read, I enjoyed the time I spent with Trindle. Her characters always welcome back readers with open arms. The men are there for your swooning pleasure. The women are there to be your best friend while lending multiple ears for when you need to vent. And boy does Brindle need her friends during this rocky time in her life. That leads me to the next element I love about Melissa's books - the growth her characters go through with the help of friends and family. Brindle's progression in Wild, Crazy Hearts was fantastic. She goes from being scared at the beginning of the book to slightly less scared, but more open and willing to work hard for her future with Trace. She had to grow up and she knew that. It wasn't an easy road and with the help of her loved ones it'll be a lot less bumpy from here on out. And I very much appreciate that. All in all, Wild, Crazy Hearts was a delightful book full of love and hope. Yet another Foster winner.
