Fall in love with this hilarious and heartwarming romantic comedy that USA Today bestselling author LJ Shen calls “an absolute treat.”
Kristen Peterson doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.
Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen — especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he’d be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it’s harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length.
I was not ready for the emotional sucker punch The Friend Zone gave me. I mean, I knew it was most likely going to be a super emotional book with Kristen's medical condition and her falling in love with Josh. I just wasn't prepared for all the feels. I ugly cried, happy cried, and ugly cried all over again. But wow... It was glorious. The characters felt so damn real. They weren't perfect. They had flaws and imperfections. Watching Josh and Kristen grow closer and wanting her to tell him the truth. I lost count of how many times I yelled "TELL HIM!" at my Kindle. And that ending... Talk about a dagger to the heart. Through all the emotions and ugly tears, I wouldn't change a thing about this book. The writing was outstanding. The author's voice was perfection. Her characters were so lovable and real. I wanted them in my life. Beautiful debut book! I can't wait to see what the future brings with the author.
